• At emeis, we understand that we are all different. That’s why our patients and residents benefit from personalised care. Our care and life pathways address their every need – be it medical, human or social. After all, people are so much more than their frailties.  
  
  Above all, a patient, resident or beneficiary is always a unique human being, with their own life story and their own social connections.  
• Mindful of the damaging breaks in care pathways, we strive to build bridges between our activities, ensuring that they are complementary through care services provided at the local level.  

Now more than ever, we support all types of frailty, whether physical, cognitive or mental, and regardless of the patient’s profile (child, adolescent, adult or older person). In particular, we are honing our expertise to treat mental health, which can affect adults young and old. 

Developing a taste for life, together! 

The story of emeis  

The story of emeis began in 1989, when a neuropsychiatrist opened his first nursing home in Saujon, in southwestern France. As new facilities were inaugurated, the ORPEA Group was established, thereby laying the foundations for emeis. 

A Group with global reach

To date, our locations span over 20 countries, mainly in Europe. emeis offers a comprehensive range of care services. The latter include mental health hospitals, medical care and rehabilitation clinics, nursing homes, senior assisted-living facilities and home care services. Our combined activities account for 1,000-plus facilities, with 78,000 employees. 

Ushering in a new era 

In 2022, the Group kick-started its Refoundation Plan, which aims to drive the transformation required in response to newly-emerging challenges in society. To this end, emeis’ overarching ambition is to transform its organisation for the benefit of patients, residents and their families, as well as its employees. 

A forward-looking purpose

2024 saw us become emeis, which means ‘we’ in ancient Greek. As such, we enshrined our values and core purpose before making the following promise: We have made a commitment and are proactively helping those who one day find themselves in need for such services to restore and sustain their strength and capabilities, nurturing their taste for life and bestowing a sense of trust and peace of mind upon their loved ones.
