Fires in France and Spain: emeis teams mobilised to support residents, service users and their loved ones
For several days now, the Gironde region in south-west France has been facing fires of an exceptional scale. In response to this emergency, emeis took immediate action to ensure the safety of everyone – residents, service users and staff – in the affected areas.
In this context, home care workers organised the evacuation of service users living in the affected areas. As a precautionary measure, three nursing homes in Andernos, Biganos and Mérignac were also evacuated to ensure everyone’s safety.
Thanks to the remarkable efforts of the emeis teams and a tremendous chain of solidarity, coordinated by the France Operations Department and the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Office, these evacuations were carried out under the best possible conditions. All residents were transferred safely and warmly welcomed into nursing homes in Nouvelle-Aquitaine and Occitanie.
In particularly trying circumstances, the teams demonstrated exemplary composure, remarkable responsiveness and unwavering commitment, even though some staff members were themselves personally affected by evacuation orders. emeis ensured that everyone was safe with their loved ones.
The Group would also like to pay tribute to the commitment of its teams in Spain, particularly in the Madrid and Valencia regions, who have stepped up to welcome residents from other nursing homes into the Group’s facilities. At a time marked by large-scale wildfires, emeis expresses its full solidarity with colleagues, residents, service users, families and partners affected by these exceptional events.
“Over the last few days, our teams have once again demonstrated what makes our mission so strong: their unwavering commitment to serving the most vulnerable.” Laurent Guillot, CEO
